Georgia today is the gateway to the Caspian—Black Sea region for Azerbaijan, Central Asian countries, including Afghanistan, as well as for China, Japan and South Korea. Moreover, the gates are critically necessary in the face of problems on traditional routes. The delivery of many project and container cargoes has recently been carried out along the Trans-Caspian corridor from the ports of Georgia to Baku and further to the ports of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
However, this route has identified weaknesses. Firstly and most notably, this corridor has not been prepared for such an increase in freight traffic. The burden on the railway as well as seaports and road transportation has increased. Secondly, the high costs associated with a complex intermodal route have not been offset by an acceptable transit time. Meanwhile, given the importance of this transportation corridor and Georgia as a transit destination, this issue will only become more significant.
What for? Attend the BREAKBULK CASPIAN 2024 conference in Tbilisi to network with leading cargo owners/shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, port and terminal operators who are interested in establishing stronger business ties in the Caucasian, Caspian, and Central Asian region. During the conference, we will be discussing topical issues in project logistics. As a matter of tradition, conference participants will also be presenting comprehensive logistics solutions for the transport and customs clearance of heavy and oversize cargo via sea, river, rail, road, and air routes in the Caucasus, the Caspian Sea, and Central Asia.
Who will be there? Last year, more than 100 delegates from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany and Turkey attended the BreakBulk CASPIAN conference. Traditionally, the event is attended by such companies as: A.R.T. Logistics, ADY Express, Air Charter Service, Bertling Kazakh Logistics, CF&S Kazakhstan, Caucastransexpress, DHL Industrial projects, Eriell Group, HAREKET, HHLA Project Logistics, Hyundai Engineering, ORIENT LOGISTIC.
Why Tbilisi? First of all, this city is the financial, scientific, cultural, economic and historical center of Georgia. Secondly, it is one of the most beautiful and distinctive cities in the Caucasus.
Schedule. On the first day of the event, September 23rd, a conference will take place to discuss the most critical issues related to project cargo logistics. The second day of the conference, September 24th, will focus on informal networking among delegates. During this time, participants will visit the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, as part of a walking tour. They will then visit the Jvari Monastery, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and explore the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and the Samtavro Complex. After that, we will visit the village of Mukhrani and the winery Château Mukhrani – a symbol of the reign of the last Georgian kings from the Bagration-Mukhrani dynasty. Here you can find their ancestral medieval fortress, an estate palace from the 19th century, vineyards, and a winery that was built on their foundations and is famous for producing some of the finest Georgian wines using European techniques. This place is captivating for its beauty and nostalgic atmosphere, evoking memories of the old days. At the winery, you can enjoy lunch, wine, and chacha tastings. The tour takes place in English and Russian and costs an additional fee.
